Allabar, Opener of the Way — The Red Moon

Allabar is the prison of Vecna and Toril’s third moon. A Far Realm entity bound by ley line chains that keep Vecna imprisoned. The Far Realm bleeds through from Allabar, and Vecna’s influence reaches out through its creatures.

Origin — How Allabar Came to Toril

1. [[Oochio Voir]], an Eldritch Lich, travelled to the Far Realm and discovered Allabar
2. Corrupted by the Far Realm, Oochio Voir sought to bring Allabar to the material plane
3. The [[Voidstone]] (Shadowstone) was smuggled into Silverton — events of sessions 1-8
4. At the Battle of Fork, Oochio Voir consumed the Voidstone, opening a portal in the arena
5. Allabar squeezed through the portal — like a baby being born and killing its mother
6. The portal kept growing. Allabar sank Hightaeria into the ocean, destroying the continent
7. The [[Eater of Worlds]] (a Couatl in celestial godly form) flew from Mt Celestia
8. The Couatl swallowed Allabar, flew into space, and spewed it into orbit — destroying itself
9. Allabar became the Red Moon — Toril’s third moon alongside Selune and the Tears of Selune

The Imprisonment

• Vecna is trapped within/behind Allabar, held by ley line chains woven around the moon
• He exists behind a veil — present but unable to fully manifest
• The ley lines are ancient bindings that only primordial forging can break
• Vecna’s plan: have the Rod of Seven Parts forged into a weapon at the Star Forge to shatter the chains and free him

Toril’s Three Moons

Toril now has three moons:

1. Selune — the traditional moon
2. Tears of Selune — the trailing asteroids
3. Allabar (The Red Moon) — Vecna’s prison, expelled into orbit by the Eater of Worlds

Far Realm Connection

• Far Realm creatures come from / through Allabar
• Vecna and Allabar were aware the Rod of Seven Parts was stolen
• They punished the Fire King and his kin — Far Realm creatures invaded through summoned portals
• Creatures have possessed fire giant bodies
• Intellect Devourers patrol the Fire Giants’ Hall
• Reality warping near the throne room — deep Far Realm corruption spreading

Allabar as a Weapon

• The moon can hurl asteroids down to the surface
• These will be used to try and recover or destroy the Rod — or punish those who carry it
• The sky itself becomes a threat when Allabar turns its gaze on you

What the Party Knows

• They’ve seen the Far Realm corruption in the Fire Giants’ Hall
• They’ve seen the Fire King turned inside out
• They know the Rod is connected to the Red Moon
• They were THERE when Allabar came through at the Battle of Fork
• They saw the Eater of Worlds consume Allabar
• They do NOT yet know the full scope: the ley line chains, the imprisonment, that the weapon was meant to free Vecna
