  • Level 8: Two possessed giants asked “Station.” Lux tried to say “Forge Floor” but the BODY said “Chain Wheels” — first sign of body overriding mind. Giants accepted.
  • Level 7: Three giants working, dragging iron. One twitched toward Lux but kept moving.
  • Level 5: Four giants in a ring, listening. All tilted toward Lux simultaneously.
  • Level 3: Lux sped up, failed CHA Deception DC 14 (rolled 13). Network flagged him. Giant approached, hand toward his face — “Open.” Trying to connect him to the network.
  • Lux rolled 18 Perception — SAW VECNA behind the giant’s eyes. Silhouette, one burning eye, one empty socket. Vecna has known since level 8. Lux was being herded.
  • Vecna pulled the giant back — LET Lux through. Wants the Rod down here.
  • Lux joined lock step with chain wheel giants. Reached forge floor.
  • Spoke to Durrak in Giant behind steam cover (Durrak opened a cooling vent — 30 seconds)
  • Durrak explained: forge can make what Vecna wants OR something that strengthens the chains. Needs Rod, 6 operators, 5 rounds.
  • Network activated when party started descending — all giants marching up toward party
  • Lux’s body tried to march with the herd — WIS save DC 14 pending
  • Wawwen knows a maintenance tunnel shortcut between levels 9 and 8
  • Lyra pickpocketed Arawn’s 3 white dragon scales (stealth 33 vs his 22)

  • RESUMED — Dragon roars (Catalyst 1 triggered, caused by steam vent making dragon work harder)
  • Rod blazes white-gold in Reaghl’s hand when party hits level 3. Ley lines erupt. CON save DC 13 for blinding.
  • Space warps around them — Far Realm corruption clashing with Rod’s divine energy
  • Arawn rolled 20+ Survival — found vent shaft (cooling vent with maintenance rungs) direct to forge floor
  • Entire party slid/climbed down vent shaft. Took steam damage. Kaial held Wawwen (Inspiring Leader 18 temp HP)
  • Party emerged below the giant king faces on the forge island
  • Reaghl THREW the Rod toward the forge — it flew straight to the anvil like a compass. Bell sound rang through the mountain.
  • Durrak: “You actually brought it.” Explained the forge — same fire can strengthen chains or break them. Needs 6 operators, 5 rounds, one falling star.
  • Vecna spoke to ALL — “You brought it back… Seven mortals carried it home for me. Thank you.”
  • Vecna spoke INDIVIDUALLY to each party member (private, in their minds):
    • Reaghl: about his psionic walls, what he’s keeping in
    • Alora: about Ilmater sending her to suffering she can’t heal — “does that make him cruel?”
    • Lyra: “The contract you carry was meant to die with the dagger. You caught it. It is the only thing I have ever feared.”
    • Kaial: “Your mother is alive. The chains you saw in your dream are real. And they are mine.”
    • Guts: about rage being a door that opens both ways
    • Arawn: “You are always looking. You have never once seen what matters.”
    • Lux: “Of all of them — you are the one most like me.”
  • Vecna exploits the conflicting divine loyalties around Reeny (his harbinger), Lyra (Kelemvor/Jergal), and Alora (Ilmater). Their conflict will break his chains regardless of who wins.
  • FOUR PORTALS opened through the four carved giant king faces:
    1. Face 1: Pit Fiend + Reeny — tears through, takes position on forge floor. Reeny armoured, crowned, on the Pit Fiend’s back.
    2. Face 2: Glasya (Asmodeus’s daughter) with Asmodeus’s presence behind her. Gold and black. Every flame dims.
    3. Face 3: Vecna — Far Realm portal, Allabar visible, Vecna pressing against chains, burning eye
    4. Face 4: Kelemvor/Fugue Plane — Fugue-Lyra (the version pushed into afterlife) standing in silver-grey light. Sir Whiskington the Third also present. Calm. Waiting.
  • SESSION ENDED on the four portals cliffhanger

MAJOR CANON CHANGES FROM PREP

  • Reeny is Vecna’s harbinger — a mortal princess, NOT Asmodeus’s daughter. Glasya (Asmodeus’s actual daughter) came through the second portal.
  • Four giant king faces = four portals (Pit Fiend + Reeny, Asmodeus + Glasya, Far Realm/Vecna, Fugue/Kelemvor)
  • Fugue-Lyra returns from the afterlife
  • Sir Whiskington the Third (details TBD — Jay says hilarious)
  • Lux’s giant body has muscle memory / override ability (said “Chain Wheels” instead of “Forge Floor”)
  • Vecna LET Lux walk through — knew the whole time, herded him
  • Durrak used the bridge as a lever to stop Lux’s herd instinct
