The Dawnfather
by archivist
The god of sunrise, of the ending of long nights, of promises kept. The dominant faith in the farmlands south of Thornwick. His symbol is a sunburst carved in oak or painted in gold on whitewash.
His priests rise before dawn and ring the first bell. They say the same short prayer every morning for the whole of their lives:
The light holds. The night ends. The word is kept.
In Thornwick, the faith is practical rather than fervent. People leave small offerings at the altar — bread, a coin, a lock of hair from a child who was sick and recovered. Brother Aldric accepts them all without comment.
